If you love dumplings but don’t love the time it takes to fold dozens of them, this lazy dumpling bowl is a game changer.

Instead of individually wrapping each dumpling, this recipe layers the filling and wrappers inside a ramekin and steams everything together. The result is soft dumpling layers with juicy, flavour-packed pork filling — all in one bowl.

It’s quick, comforting, and incredibly satisfying while still staying relatively low in calories. With balanced protein and carbs, it makes a great single-serve meal when you want something warm, savoury, and comforting without spending hours in the kitchen.

And because the filling is packed with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil, the flavour tastes just like traditional dumplings.

Steps

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine (if using), sesame oil, green onions, salt, and pepper.

Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly combined.

Take a small ramekin or mug & Add a layer of the pork mixture to the bottom.

Place a dumpling wrapper on top & Add another layer of the pork mixture.

Pour in about 30 ml of water.

Place another dumpling wrapper on top and gently press it down so it sits partially in the water.

The layering order should look like this: Pork mixture Dumpling wrapper Pork mixture Water Dumpling wrapper

Place the ramekins inside a large pot.

Add water to the pot until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

Cover the pot with a lid and steam for 15 minutes.

The pork should be fully cooked and the dumpling wrappers soft and tender.

Carefully remove the ramekin from the pot.

Drizzle with chilli oil if desired and garnish with extra green onions.
